THE Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) on Wednesday welcomed the new foreign trade policy saying that it rightly emphasised the integrated approach to exports.
In a statement issued here, ESC also welcomed the restructuring of the Board of Trade with induction of experts from the industry. "This would lead to cross-fertilisation of ideas and evolution of practical models that can be implemented with great success. Reduction of transaction cost holds the key to shoring up the export competitiveness. The policy rightly laid emphasis on reducing the transaction cost, which eroded Indian competitiveness," ESC Chairman, Mr P. K. Sandell, said.
Lauding the Government for assigning an important role to services exports from the country and for extending the graded duty-free entitlement credit scheme to services exports, ESC said services exports led by software and IT-enabled services was the torch bearer of Indian Inc.
