Tourism Yoga to stand out in Kerala C.J. Punnathara
Kochi , Sept. 3 IN its quest for the ultimate experience, Kerala tourism is leaving no stone unturned. From humble beginnings of a one-beach State Kovalam being its sole claim to fame the State has carved out a niche market, from backwaters, houseboats, rich and spicy Travancore cuisine to tree-top fantasies for the international traveller. Ayurveda is the vital ingredient added to this rich tapestry of culture, arts, biodiversity and varied history. And in its bid to enrich Kerala tourism further, CHG Group of Hotels has decided to add yoga to its bouquet of offerings. CGH has contacted one of the pioneering institutions, the Bihar School of Yoga, to propagate and disseminate yoga among tourists visiting the State. "Our effort is to integrate the therapeutic values of ayurveda with the spiritual character of yoga," Jose Dominic, Managing Director of CGH Group, said. To start with, the synergy between yoga and ayurveda would be explored and imparted at CGH Group's exclusive property, the Kollengode Palace Ayurvedic Resort, coming up at Palakkad in the State. This fully vegetarian resort, where liquor is prohibited and footwear is anathema, is slated to open to tourists this December. The resort itself looks to provide a spiritual experience over and above the environment and community bonding that the group is famous for. The new experience will be extended to other properties of the group as well.
