Crafty Maps

Award-winning miniature artist Dr Sneh Gangal with her creation, Crafts Map of Rajasthan, at a 10-day exhibition organised by Dastkari Haat Samiti on India's dying arts and crafts in Hyderabad on Friday. The Samiti has about 1,600 artists as its members. Crafts Maps of India are created by artists from different parts of the country. According to Ms Jaya Jaitley, President of the Samiti, it pays Rs 20,000 to the artist for the original. Last year, the organisation printed nearly 1,500 copies each of 23 such maps. Each print is sold at Rs 150.
