UTV bags 3 animation projects

MUMBAI: UTV on Monday announced that it has bagged three new animation projects at a combined value in excess of $3 million.

These projects are from a wide variety of markets including South Africa, Canada, the US and Holland.

UTV is also planning to increase its studio capacity by three-fold by increasing its personnel from 50 to 150 and invest in animation infrastructure.

The projects bagged by UTV include, `Lost in Paris' a co-production with Awesome Kids LLC - USA, toy makers in America; `Magic Cellar' commissioned by South African Broadcasting Co-operation; Series II of UTV's earlier projects, `Honk Toot and Swoosh' a 3D animation show with CCI Entertainment of Canada and Creative Graphics of Holland.

UTV has also entered into another worldwide distribution deal with its co-production partners for the Series I of `Honk Toot.' CCI of Canada has projected revenue of $20 million over 3-4 years and UTV's Co-Production stake is between 10-15 per cent.

"We have always been very committed to the Animation business as part of our TV content growth. Three global majors taking cognisance of our quality and services is a further endorsement of our continued commitment to this growing Creative Outsourcing and Services business," UTV said in a press release quoting Mr Ronnie Screwvala, CEO, UTV.
