EPF investments

This is with reference to "Ministry proposes EPF investments in equities" (Business Line, September 8). Given that the interest rate on the Special Deposit Scheme and other saving instruments are on the decline, the proposal of the Labour Ministry to invest a small portion of the EPF funds in equities is welcome.

The Employees Provident Fund Organisation has recently appointed Mercer as their investment consultant to suggest various investment avenues where the organisation can invest to maximise returns. It is such a thorough revamp of the investment patter of the EPFO that will yield good results.
