UK cos to have strong presence at FoodTec

THE agri-business team of the UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) will present a perspective on the best of UK expertise, products and technology at the three-day International FoodTec India 2004 at the HITEX Fair Grounds starting Friday.

The East Midlands Ethnic Food Forum (EMEFF), which recently signed an MoU in Kerala to boost bilateral trade and investment with the Malabar Chamber of Commerce will be present in strength to explore further opportunities, according to a press release from the British High Commissioner's Office, Chennai.

The British ethnic food market is estimated to be worth one billion pound sterling and is among the fastest growing.

The EMEFF, an independent regional network of British Asian entrepreneurs in food business, also singed an MoU with Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation and the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture, Pune, during the year.

The UK participation would include areas of packaging, processing, cold storage, retail business, consultancy services etc.

FoodTec India 2004, is being jointly organised by the Confederation of Indian Food Trade & Industry (CIFTI), Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and CIDEX Trade Fairs.
