Jet offers lower `check fares'

Our Bureau

New Delhi , Sept. 11

JET Airways on Saturday announced the launch of `check fares' offering a saving of 30-45 per cent on normal economy class fares on select flights on seven sectors. These include to-and-fro flights on sectors such as Bangalore-Delhi, Delhi-Hyderabad, Mumbai-Bangalore and Chennai-Delhi.

To avail oneself of the new lower `check fares', which come into effect from September 13, all that a passenger will need to do is to `check' the availability at the time of booking. The new scheme will complement the lower level 15, 21, 30-day apex fares. However, while a passenger is required to book well in advance to avail of the `Apex' fares, the check fares will be available near the date of travel.

The airline has set two levels - Level 1 and Level 2 - at which these fares are to be offered with availability of seats as shown in the computerised booking system deciding at what level the ticket is to be sold to a passenger. A passenger being booked under Level 1 on the Bangalore-Delhi route will be charged Rs 5,855, while another booked at Level 2 would be charged Rs 7,150 for a one-way journey. The normal one-way economy class fare on the sector is Rs 10,430.

Similarly, a check fare passenger on the Chennai-Delhi sector could be charged either Rs 5,850 or Rs 7,150, instead of the normal one-way economy class fare of Rs 10,735.

On the Chennai-Hyderabad sector, a passenger would be charged either Rs 2,890 or Rs 3,350, while on the Delhi-Mumbai sector a passenger would have to pay either Rs 4,250 or Rs 5,150 under the new scheme.
