Trade policy

This is with reference to "New Foreign Trade Policy - Viewing trade as an engine of growth" (Business Line, September 11). The new Foreign Trade policy has been made with the basic understanding that trade is not an end in itself, but a means to economic growth and national development.

It has been designed to act as an effective instrument of economic growth by giving a thrust to employment generation, especially in semi-urban and rural areas.

C. Ramesh

Keeramangalam (TN)
