Drop a little sugar in my bowl

On a day when YVR hogged the headlines for the CRR hike, Sridevi wakes up after a long Sunday siesta to chat with Jogin, Khan and Dakshinamoorthy. Their subject: Markets. Catch up.

Sri: Am I seeing double? Inflation heading to double-digit

territory!

Jog: I told you not to watch too much TV! But see Zee. On

Tuesday, Zee will announce whether it would submit a

fresh bid for cricket telecast rights in India.

Dax: That means forking out a substantially higher sum

than its initial bid!

Kay: Drop a little sugar in your bowl, Sri, to feel better.

That's a Nina Simone for you! Stocks to watch: Balrampur

Chini, Bannari Amman, Andhra Sugars.

Dax: Cane minimum price fixed on a recovery rate of

9 per cent, changes in computing recovery rate and loans

from Sugar Development Fund at 50 per cent lower rates

are all booster doses.

Jog: Heard that free sale quota

was too less to meet sugar

demand. Retail impact Rs 2,

my guess.

Sri: Market is expected to

remain firm. Crucial points

is 5400, if it crosses, further rise

is possible.

Kay: Overall mood is bullish and

one can see more action in mid-

cap and small cap stocks.

Dax: Big cats are piling Andhra Petro. Is any M&A

activity cooking up? Meow?

Jog: Reddy sahib is draining liquidity. Rs 8,000 crore!

Negative bias in early trading, I fear.

Kay: Reminds me of the mid 1990s policy that squeezed industrial growth. Before Jog was born! :-)

Sri: Bank stocks may post modest losses, temporarily, I

feel. Liquidity is high. Interest must be stable.

Jog: Stocks trading below Rs 10 with turnaround history

are fashionable. Try Arvind Products of Lalbhai group. I

know a guy who bought one crore shares. Merger with

Arvind Mills likely?

Kay: Marriage talks between MTNL and BSNL on again!

Groom's aggressive plans in mobile space may rub off on

MTNL. Bharti to rule weak as BSNL's new tariffs take

effect.

Dax: Nobody is talking about Vardhman and Mahavir

Spinning merger. Watch M because V's textile business

comes to M! Economies of scale may improve and so

could valuation.

Jog: On Tata eyeing new estates, I hear it is a good idea,

but is like asking for a full moon!

Kay: Cipla, Reddy's and Ranbaxy get interesting because

they did not enjoy post-election rally.

Sri: US elections? Who'll win? I want a little sweetness

down in my soul! Steam on my clothes...

Jog: Stop watching TV, I told you! If you're getting bored,

hop into my new Getz!

Kay: Hyundai's Getz and the imminent launch of Ford

Fusion may have a tempering effect on Maruti. This can

affect the stocks of Maruti and Tata Motors.

Dax: Sri, check if Jog has a valid licence! Let me warn, as

in stock markets, it is too risky!
