Film producers told to utilise recording facilities in AP

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Sept. 12

THE Andhra Pradesh Government has asked film producers in the State to compulsorily utilise the recording and mixing facilities available locally if they want to avail themselves of Government incentives.

The Government has set up a high-level committee to closely monitor the recording activity to see to it that its orders in this regard were not violated.

The committee would comprise representatives from the AP Film Chamber of Commerce, Cine Musicians Union and AP State Film Television and Theatre Development Corporation Ltd (APSFTTDC).

In a press release here on Saturday, the corporation said the team would visit all the recording theatres in the State capital every day to collect details of recording, re-recording and mixing works.

They would crosscheck the information provided by the producers on this count.

Responding to a plea by Cine Musicians Union (Hyderabad) and owners of recording theatre owners, the corporation referred its orders issued in 2002 that mandated producers to do recording and mixing work in the State.

Local musicians and recording theatre owners alleged that most of the film producers went to Chennai to complete the recording, re-recording and mixing works, leaving them no business.

The corporation would monitor the data provided by the taskforce every day and compare the details with those provided by the producers to claim incentives.
