AP Govt to build 3.79 lakh houses

HYDERABAD: The State Government has decided to construct 3.79 lakh houses at a cost of Rs 937.80 crore during 2004-05.

Of the 3.79 lakh houses, 10,000 would be semi-permanent rural (SPR) houses, 2.67 lakh houses would be rural permanent houses (RPH).

The unit cost of SPR houses is put at Rs 7,500 and that of RPH is put at Rs 25,000.

Out of the total project cost of Rs 937.80 crore, the Government subsidy would be Rs 272.68 crore, loan component Rs 645.75 crore and beneficiary contribution would be Rs 18.95 crore.

Families with an annual income of Rs 20,000 a year are eligible, a Government press release said here on Saturday.

The Government authorised the Managing Director of Andhra Pradesh State Housing Corporation Ltd to approach HUDCO and other financial institutions to raise the loan component of Rs 645.75 crore.
