AP Govt plans rural employment through Khadi Corporation

THE State Government is contemplating to promote Khadi and Village Industries Corporation (KVIC) on a large scale, to generate employment to the rural masses, especially among women classes, the State Minister for Mines and Geology, Ms P. Sabita Indira Reddy, said.
While declaring open a training programme for 500 youths at Khadi Gramodyoga Maha Vidyalaya here under the Swarna Jayanti Shehari Rojgar Yojana Scheme, she said training to youths aged between 18 to 35 years would be imparted in 12 different trades including rexine and leather goods making, welding and fabrication work, candle and chalk piece making, food processing by using solar technology.
Apart from training, the beneficiary intending to start a industry would also be eligible for a margin money subsidy up to a maximum of Rs 3 lakh, the Minister said. For the benefit of the trainees, KVIC has started Rural Industries Consultancy Services Cell at the Institute.
Urging the unemployed rural youths to come forward and avail themselves of the opportunity, the Minister said Andhra Pradesh stands second in the position in obtaining a grant of about Rs 15 crore as margin money for the Centre this year.
