Letters Patents Bill
At a time when the Patents (Third Amendment) Bill isto be brought before Parliament, your editorial, "The patent divide" (Business Line, September 14) is timely. As rightly pointed out, the amendment should ensure that the regulatory system is foolproof to prevent the stifling of original research. Above all, the Indian consumer and his right to affordable medicine should be protected. And safeguarding of India's traditional medicines and medical practices must also be ensured. A.
