Airlines Emirates SkyCargo to offer freighter service to Johannesburg, Lahore Vimala Vasan
Abu Dhabi , Sept. 14 EMIRATES SkyCargo on Tuesday announced that it is set to offer dedicated cargo freighter services to Johannesburg and Lahore. At the 22nd International Air Cargo Forum and Exposition in Bilbao, Spain, it said that both scheduled freighter services would begin on October 1. The Johannesburg route will be operated by a dedicated Boeing 747-400F with a capacity of 124 tonnes. Lahore will be served by a Boeing 747-200F with a payload of 100 tonnes. The new service to Johannesburg marks Emirates SkyCargo's first African freighter route, supplementing the current belly-hold capacity of 182 tonnes in the airline's Airbus A340-300 double daily services, and boosting its capacity to more than 300 tonnes of cargo per week. The freighter will return from the city via Nairobi. The Dubai-Lahore freighter service, which offers unbeatable tonnage and volume to the city, will return via Taipei and Dhaka. Currently, Emirates SkyCargo offers 100 tonnes of belly-hold capacity in the Boeing 777 passenger service that serves Lahore four times a week.
