Public Sector Banks PNB gears up to offer retail loans Rajesh Ahuja
Chandigarh , Sept. 15 PUNJAB National Bank is geared to offer retail loans to the residents of Chandigarh in the forthcoming festival season, according to the Northern Zone General Manager, Mr B.P. Chopra. Mr Chopra disbursed loans worth Rs 21 crore on the spot at a retail lending function here on Wednesday. These included housing loan, car loan, trading loan, education loan, loan against property and lease rentals. Giving a break-up of the loans disbursed, he said that Rs 8 crore was given for the housing segment, Rs 7 crore for the trading segment and over Rs 2 crore as education loans. The Mr Chopra said that PNB, being the lead bank in Chandigarh, had taken lead in providing shelter to uprooted slum dwellers. PNB was the first institution, which formulated the housing rehabilitation scheme in consultation with the Chandigarh administration for economical weaker sections of society and it had already extended loans worth Rs 5 crore to 402 poor inhabitants.
