Our Bureau

KOCHI: The Class-1 officers of the United India Insurance Company in the country will go on a one-day strike on September 17 in protest against the management's lacklustre approach towards their demands such as revision of wages and removal of delay in promotions etc.

The General Insurers Public Sector Association (GIPSA) has not so far come forward for a serious discussion on the list of demands submitted by the unions.

The long-term service-wages agreement with the management had expired on July 31, 2002. The management's offer of 8.5 per cent increase in the wages is not acceptable to the employees, Mr P.P. Mohanan, State General Secretary, General Insurance Officers All India Association (GIOAIA) and Mr V.R. Ramachandran, Secretary, United India Insurance Officers Association said.
