Bollywood films in Dubai fest

Abu Dhabi , Sept. 16

A SELECTION of Bollywood classics and new crossover films inspired or produced by Bollywood as well as a special section devoted to new works of excellence by emerging young filmmakers from India and other countries of the sub-continent are among the highlights of the first Dubai International Film Festival, to be held in Dubai from December 6 to 11.

Bollywood Producer and Director Mr Subash Ghai is on the Advisory Board for the film festival along with Mr Alberto Barbera, Director, Museo Nazionale del Cinema, Torino, Italy, and Mr Piers Handling, CEO and Director, Toronto International Film Festival Group.

India's film expert Ms Uma da Cunha is among a panel of distinguished international programmers and film connoisseurs who will be selecting premier films from across the world for the festival, according to a statement from the Dubai Media City.

The Dubai fest will feature a total of 80 films, which include 55 main features, 10 sidebar screenings and 15 Arab short films. These films will be further broken down into 10 distinct programmes.
