Delhi Metro completes 70 pc of phase I work

THE Delhi Metro project has completed 70 per cent of the total work required for phase I of the project which consists of three lines running from Shahadra to Rithala, Vishwa Vidyalaya to Central Secretariat and Barakhamba Road to Dwarka covering a distance of 65 kms.

The Shahadra-Rithala section is already operational with 248 trains running everyday between 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., a release said here. Phase I of the Metro Project which was originally scheduled for completion in ten years has been compressed to seven years by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and is slated for completion by 2005.
