Microtek to set up 2 new units in Himachal

MICROTEK International Ltd plans to set up two new plants in Himachal Pradesh for manufacturing online UPS and high capacity transformers, at an investment of about Rs 27 crore.

"We have already purchased land in Himachal Pradesh for setting up seven more plants in future, although there is not specific time for constructing these. In the next six months, we will be setting up two new plants for power division products," Mr Vivek Jain, Marketing Director , Microtek International, said here.

He said that the first such unit would manufacture online uninterrupted power supply (UPS) and added that the investment in this plant would be to the tune of Rs 20 crore. "The other plant would be our second transformer unit. It will manufacture high capacity transformers. The investment requirement for this plant will be about Rs 6-7 crore." Microtek currently has eight manufacturing plants for IT and power products. Seven of these facilities are located in Parvanu in Himachal Pradesh, and one in Haryana. "Till now we had online UPS from 1KVA to 5KVA single phase, but now we plan to manufacture UPSs up to 40 KVA with three phase, in the new facility," Mr Jain pointed out.

Currently, the company is not planning a new product line in IT, he said, adding "the focus is to consolidate existing product line."

Microtek is an integrated computer peripherals and power products manufacturer with products such as UPS, digital inverters and automatic voltage regulators (AVRs).

The company manufactures digital inverters, UPS/online UPS, stabilisers, colour digital monitors, motherboards, computer cases, multimedia amplified speakers, and automotive batteries for two wheelers, three wheelers, cars, tractors, light commercial vehicles and heavy commercial vehicles .
