TransWorks ties up with IMC to offer data analytics

Bangalore , Sept. 16

Transworks, the business process outsourcing (BPO) outfit of the Aditya Birla Group, has entered into a strategic tie-up with the US-based IMC International to offer data analytics and business intelligence services. Mr Prakash Gurbaxani, CEO , TransWorks, said the new initiative was part of the company's strategy to get into the high-end BPO segment and move up the value chain.

IMC has developed data analytics and business intelligence tools that are proprietary in nature, around which TransWorks will offer services, Mr Gurbaxani said. "We are looking at moving some portion of the services offshore," he said, adding that both companies would soon work out the revenue sharing arrangement.

Transworks, which is targeting revenue of around $30 million for the current year, expects this new initiative to contribute a couple of million dollars from next year onwards, he said.

The tie-up would help TransWorks gain an entry into IMC's customer base and vice-versa, Mr Gurubaxani said, adding that both the companies could also take joint marketing initiatives. TransWorks offers BPO and customer relationship management (CRM) services mainly in the financial services, telecom, technology (OEMs), and hospitality verticals.

Meanwhile, Mr Gurubaxani said the company was likely to conclude an overseas acquisition to boost its domain capabilities over the next six months. TransWorks has given the acquisition mandate to Ernst & Young to scout for a potential target in niche areas such as healthcare, insurance, real estate and mortgage processing mainly in the US and the European markets.

The company, which has around 2,500 people spread across three centres in Bangalore and Mumbai, plans to increase its capacity to around 2000 seats this year.

"We are planning to invest around $4 million in adding another 400 seats in Bangalore," he said.
