Rlys begins work on safety institute

NEW DELHI: THE Ministry of Railways has started working on the process for setting up of an Institute of Rescue and Medical Relief at Bangalore.

The Rs 10-crore institute will give a fillip to the training activities for effective disaster management, which has been recognised as a priority area by the Railways. This also forms part of a number of initiatives being taken to strengthen disaster management system, said an official statement.

The institute will act as a repository for modern extrication and medical relief techniques to ensure quicker rescue.
