Bangalore , Sept. 17 ARIBA Inc, which helps corporates the world over with its procurement solutions, said it would double headcount at its development centre here from 80 over the next 12 months. Mr David McCormick, President of Ariba, who inaugurated a 300-seat development centre, said the Bangalore facility would reach full capacity within the next two years. "The establishment of this new centre is in direct response to the growing market and customer demand for our spend management solutions in India and around the world," he said. The Bangalore centre, the largest outside the US, undertakes product development and also provides support and services supplementing Ariba's global operations. "Since we established operations in India in May 2002, we have been doubling staff every year and the trend should continue,'' Mr McCormick said adding that the country as a market holds a lot of promise for the company. "India is a focus country for us both as a development centre and market. We have 25 customers in the country, both home-grown companies and multinationals doing business with Indian corporations," he said. Ariba's customers in India include Tata Motors, Ranbaxy Laboratories, Dabur, Indorama and TVS Motors, among others. The company merged with FreeMarkets Inc in July this year to become a leading spend management provider globally.
