Tea Global tea output flat P.S. Sundar
Coonoor , Sept. 17 THE global tea output in the current calendar year is running almost on the same lines as last year. According to the information received from the producing nations, between January and July, the world tea production totalled 821.6 million kg - just 0.8 million kg more than the same months of 2003. For the increase of 33.6 million kg posted by Kenya to reach 170 million kg, the overall output should have been much more had it not been for a steep decline of 35.4 million kg in the production in India to dip to 384.5 million kg.
