In a press release here on Thursday, the department said that collection at the check posts had also increased to Rs 26.60 crore till August, this year, as against Rs 24.81 crore in the same period last year. The department said that it was providing "pledge loans" to farmers for the stock kept by them in the warehouses approved by the State Government. Till August, this year, it had given Rs 12.5 crore as pledge loan to 3,658 farmers. During 2003-04, it had dispersed loans worth Rs 54 crore benefiting 23,500 farmers.
