Rubber Spot rubber prices firm up Our Correspondent
Kottayam , Sept. 20 SPOT rubber prices firmed up on Monday. The covering groups and purchase agents were active as rumours about the shortage of rubber spread the market. Scattered rainfall reported from the plantations areas does not seem to influence the price movements but major growers were reluctant to sell their stock at lower levels. According to sources, most of them expect the prices to improve in the weeks ahead. The futures market improved further on Monday. The near month October delivery was quoted at Rs 51.80 (Rs 51.35), November at Rs 52.50 (Rs 51.79), December at Rs 52.45 (Rs 51.81) and January at Rs 53.18 (Rs 52.35) per kg for RSS 4. The volumes were better. At Bangkok, RSS improved to Rs 57.17 from Rs 57.00 a kg on Friday. The spot market rates per kg on Monday were: RSS 4 Rs 50 (Rs 49.75), RSS 5 Rs 40 (Rs 48), Ungraded Rs 47.50 (Rs 47.25), ISNR 20 Rs 48.25 (Rs 47.25) and latex 60% Rs 38 (Rs 38)
