Hyderabad , Sept. 20

A CO-ORDINATED effort from several States facing Naxalite problems is a must to find a long-term solution, the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, said today.

Addressing newspersons ahead of a meeting of Chief Ministers of nine States on Tuesday, Dr Reddy said: "We expect to discuss the issue from all angles threadbare."

The Union Home Minister, Mr Shivraj Patil, will participate in the meeting, which has been called by his Ministry.

Four Chief Ministers have confirmed their participation in the meeting, which would focus on what proactive steps could be taken. Andhra Pradesh has already initiated the process of bringing People's War to the discussion table.

Dr Reddy said: "The problem of naxalism is not just about weapons or socio-economic ... We have to examine it from various angles. AP will explain the various steps taken so far."

Meanwhile, the Union Home Minister is slated to have a luncheon meeting with Dr Reddy. He will visit the Grey Hound Training Centre and also watch the display of weapons and vehicles purchased through the police modernisation fund.
