Protecting the crop

A farm hand spraying pesticide to protect the paddy crop that has come up well in one of the farms at Pedamallam village in Andhra Pradesh's West Godavari district. Timely rains have helped good progress of various crops, including paddy in the country. Despite this, rice production is projected to be lower at 71.5 million tonnes against 75.5 million tonnes last year.
