Life Insurance Aviva to move more jobs to India, Sri Lanka Our Bureau
Mumbai , Sept. 22 AVIVA, the UK-based life insurer, on Wednesday said that it will extend its offshoring capability by creating around 760 jobs in India and around 190 jobs in Sri Lanka in 2005 to service its Norwich Union businesses in the UK. This builds on the 3,700 jobs that Aviva has already established in Delhi, Bangalore and Pune and brings the total number of staff in India to 4,460 by the end of 2005. Aviva expects to grow manpower from the current 25 in Sri Lanka to 215 by the end of 2005, a press release from the company said. The release quoted Mr Seán Egan, Chief Operating Officer of Aviva Offshore Operations, as saying: "In the UK, Aviva operates in very competitive markets where customers continually seek better value for money and quality of service. The experience of our existing offshore operations shows that the service levels in India continue to match those that we achieve in our UK operations. Expanding our offshore operations will give us the increased capacity we need. We expect to conclude our offshoring plans by the end of 2007 by which time we anticipate that we will have up to 7,000 staff offshore, servicing our existing UK businesses".
