HFCL floats new co for developing applications

Thomas K. Thomas

HFCL has invested close to Rs 25 crore in setting up the company.

New Delhi , Sept. 22

HIMACHAL Futuristic Communications Ltd has floated a new company, Unified Carrier Solutions, for developing applications for mobile and broadband.

The company has already initiated talks with service providers and equipment vendors to deploy value-added service platforms developed by 100 engineers at its Gurgaon facility.

Mr Paul Berkowitz, President, Unified Carrier Solutions, said, "We help the carriers spreading across divergent technology like GSM, CDMA or 3G to communicate across platform."

"We could make this possible by supplying software solutions and integration services for broadband, multi-service networks over wireless, telephone, cable television, Internet, broadcast and enterprise networks."

HFCL, the parent company, has invested close to Rs 25 crore in setting up the company and conducting research and development on the products that have been developed over the last two years.

Mr Berkowitz, who was earlier with UTstarcom, is heading the new HFCL venture.

Unified Carrier will also provide consulting services. "We develop end-to-end system requirements, networks architectures, specifications, acceptance plans and interoperability plans that may form the technical basis for the Carrier's pre or post purchase vendor management process," said Mr Berkowitz.
