Nabard entrepreneurship scheme

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has introduced a scheme for setting up agri clinics and agri business centres (ACABC) for agriculture graduates.
According to a spokesman of the Nabard Regional Office here, the scheme aims to accelerate the process of technology transfer to agriculture, thereby providing a supplementary source of input supply and services to farmers. This will also provide gainful employment to agricultural graduates in new emerging areas in the sector.
The loans provided are classified as `direct agriculture advances' under the priority sector as per Reserve Bank norms. The Union Finance Minister had recently announced the setting up of at least 10 ACABCs in each district in the country.
According to Mr B.S. Shekhawat, Chief General Manager, Nabard will charge interest on its refinance at 5.5 per cent per annum irrespective of the size of loan.
