ICAI meet on global audit opportunities begins today

THE two-day Continuing Professional Education (CPE) conference on `Emerging Global Opportunities' being organised by the CPE Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accounts of India (ICAI) gets under way here tomorrow.

The CPE is partnering with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) and the London Chapter of the ICAI in the conduct of the conference at the Le Meriden Kovalam Beach Resort at Kovalam near here.

The Thiruvananthapuram branch of the Southern India regional Council (SIRC) of ICAI is the host branch and the Doha and London Chapters of ICAI, the host chapters for the conference.

This is the first time that Kerala is holding such an international conference, according to Mr G. Ramaswamy, Chairman, CPE Committee. The ICAI pursues the CPE as one of the avowed objectives so as to ensure that its members maintain the quality of service and knowledge expected of them.

The Kovalam CPE will carry eight hours of CPE Credit for members of the institute. It offers both residential and non-residential options to delegates. The conference will focus on the following topics: Audit and assurance services - An international perspective; International taxation - Recent developments; Double taxation agreements - Recent developments; Taxation of non-residents and transfer pricing; Business process outsourcing - Global opportunities; Internal audit; and Systems audit - Global opportunities.

Apart from Mr Goyal, the ICAI will be represented by Mr Kamlesh S. Vikamsey, Vice-President, and members of the Central Council. Around 100 delegates from Sri Lanka, Doha and London and 600 from all over India are expected to attend.
