Kochi , Sept. 24

THE Chennai-based California Software (Calsoft) on Friday said that it has bought 50 per cent stake in Team Frontline Pvt Ltd, a leading system integrator in Kerala, aimed at enhancing its geographical presence and service capabilities.

"With this, Calsoft gets a base in Kerala while Team Frontline gets financial assistance and a global reach," said Mr S. Santhosh, Managing Director of Calsoft, at a news conference.

Financials of the deal were not disclosed. Besides taking the equity, Calsoft will also give a loan to Team Frontline, Mr Santhosh said. Calsoft is in the process of setting up an office in Dubai to address the market in West Asia.

The partnership with Team Frontline will come in handy to address this market, he said.

According to Mr S.R. Nair, Managing Director of Team Frontline, his company will now start addressing the country's IT market by leveraging on Calsoft's offerings.

Such a tie-up was essential for Team Frontline to grow beyond Kerala, where the market for IT solutions is relatively small compared to elsewhere in the country, he added.

Set up 1992, Calsoft today has over 300 engineers at its development centre in Chennai. The company clocked revenues of $9.5 million in the last financial year.

Its offerings range from solutions for commodities trading, shipping, healthcare, and fuel oil supply chain and technology solutions.

Team Frontline has installed over 20,000 systems and is sales and support partner to vendors such as IBM, HP, Microsoft, Toshiba and HCL.

The company has a turnover of Rs 12 crore. Recently, it launched the Orchid brand of PCs in the market.

Mr Nair said that the company was now planning to launch servers, notebook computers and UPS systems.
