Bid to check rise in tamarind prices in AP

Hyderabad , Sept. 27

KEEPING in view the spiralling tamarind price, the Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to procure 20,000 quintals from other States and countries in the next 15 days. A high-level committee has been set up in this regard.

Mr Bhanwar Lal, Commissioner of Civil Supplies, said in a press release that the Girijan Cooperative Corporation (GCC) made available 11,900 quintals for sale through fair price shops.

Tamarind will be available at fair price shops at Rs 12 a kg (seeded) and Rs 25 (without seed) in the next two days.
