Mixed trend in spot rubber

Our Correspondent

Kottayam , Sept. 29

THE domestic spot rubber prices showed a mixed trend on Wednesday. Sheet rubber RSS 4 declined to Rs 51.50 from Rs 52 a kg on buyer resistance. Latex improved by 50 paise on steady demand while ungraded rubber and ISNR 20 closed static in the absence of quantum buying orders. There was no selling pressure from growers, according to dealers.

The rubber futures showed signs of weakness on Wednesday. The near month October delivery was quoted at Rs 53.85 (54.41), November delivery at Rs 54.09 (54.71), December delivery at Rs 54.10 (54.69) and January delivery at Rs 55.20 (55.80) per kg for RSS 4. Rumours on fresh imports of NR hit the market sentiments putting pressure on the prices, sources said.

At Bangkok, RSS 3 closed steady at Rs 57.72 a kg while the October futures at TOCOM for RSS 3 declined to 140.8 yen from 141.5 Yen a kg on Tuesday.

The spot market rates per kg on Wednesday follow: RSS 4 Rs 51.50 (52); RSS 5 Rs 50.25 (50.50); ungraded Rs 49 (49); ISNR 20 Rs 51 (51); latex 60 per cent Rs 40 (39.50).
