Halcyon Castle under Archaeology Dept

Our Bureau

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The disputed Halcyon Castle at Kovalam and the 4.13 hectares of land on which it is located, since taken over by the State Government in direct action, is being handed over to the Department of Archaeology.

The Castle overlooking the Arabian Sea was sealed within hours after the District Collector, Ms Tinku Biswal, formally announced the takeover from the possession of M-Far, a private hotelier.

On Tuesday, revenue authorities evicted two more buildings among the cluster situated on the land. These were being used as staff quarters by the hotelier. With this, the State Government has sealed three buildings, inclusive of the main Halcyon Castle structure.
