The Hindu Business Line : Nandi awards announced

MR Mahesh Babu and Ms Bhoomika Chawla have won the Best Leading Actor and Best Leading Actress awards for their roles in `Nijam' and `Missamma' for the 2003 edition of Nandi awards. They would receive Silver Nandi with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 each.

Mr Guna Sekhar has won the Best Director and Sri K.V. Reddy Gold Medal for his film `Okkadu.' While `Missamma' has been adjudged the First Best Feature Film, `Okkadu' and `Amma Naanna O Tamila Ammayi' won the second and third best feature film awards.

Neeku Nenu Naaku Nuvvu has been selected for the Government of AP and Dr Akkineni Nageswara Rao Award for best home viewing feature film.

In the children's films segment, `Hero,' directed by Mr Suneel Kumar Reddy, won the First Best Children's Film, while `Nandini' (directed by Mr R.S. Raju) selected for the Second Best Children's Film.

Master Ram Teja won the Best Child Actor award for his role in `Hero,' while Baby Nandini won the Best Child Actress award for her role in Nandini.

Interestingly, no film was selected for in categories like best feature films on national integration, documentary films and educational films.

The other winners are: Best Music Director - Mani Sharma (Okkadu); Best Male Playback Singer - S.P. Balasubramanyam (Seethaiah); Best Female Playback Singer - Suneetha (Athade Oka Sainyam) and Best Lyrics Writer - C. Narayana Reddy (Seethaiah).
