HLL to re-launch Clinic All Clear

Sindhu J Bhattacharya

New Delhi , Sept. 29

AFTER a hike in the price of Surf Excel Quick Wash, Hindustan Lever Ltd (HLL) is now training its guns on the anti-dandruff shampoo brand, Clinic All Clear.

The company will be re-launching Clinic All Clear in a new formulation and with about 10 per cent higher price within a fortnight, industry sources said here today.

The re-launch and price hike of Clinic follows close on the heels of HLL hiking prices of all its packaged tea brands as well as Surf Excel Quick Wash sachet.

Industry sources said the 100 ml pack size is expected to become dearer by Rs 5 to Rs 55 while the 200 ml pack size will cost Rs 10 more at Rs 105.

While it was not clear what prompted the company to re-launch Clinic, they said the decision to increase prices was taken due to improved formulation in the new version and not because of any inflationary pressures.

As per ORG data for the first eight months of this year till August, Clinic All Clear held volume market share of 43.63 per cent and value share of 41.05 per cent. It was ahead of Procter & Gamble's Head and Shoulders in both criteria.

Industry sources said HLL decided to reverse the price war in detergents by increasing detergent sachet prices last fortnight due to recent inflationary pressures such as rising costs of raw materials, transportation etc.
