RBI summer placement offer to students

Our Bureau

Chennai , Sept. 30

THE Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has invited applications from students of approved MCA and MBA programmes for the next summer placements. A list of nine institutions offering the MCA and 72 offering MBA programmes is available on the RBI Web site. The selected students will be notified by January 2005 for the three-month placement between April - June 2005.

RBI has been offering summer placements for students since 1980. About 50 students are taken in from campuses across the country. They are paid a token stipend for the period.

"The objective of the scheme is to allow management students to apply their theoretical learning to operational issues in an actual institutional setting. Apart from strengthening their CVs, the internship is felt to be a very useful learning experience by students. Many of the reports help the bank get a fresh perspective on policy, organisational issues as well as our systems and processes," RBI officials said.
