New Projects Ahluwalia Contracts to invest Rs 35 cr in new ready mix concrete plants Moumita Bakshi
New Delhi , Sept. 30 CLOSE on heels of foraying into the ready mix concrete (RMC) business under the brand AHLCON RMC, construction company Ahluwalia Contracts (India) Ltd plans to invest Rs 35 crore for setting up four plants in Gurgaon, Noida, Ahmedabad and Kolkata. "We decided to get into RMC business about six months back as we felt that there is a strong market demand and opportunity. The RMC is sold to construction companies and builders. We will be setting up four more RMC plants," Mr Vikaas Ahluwalia, Director, Ahluwalia Contracts (India), said. Currently, the company has a `RMC batching plant' in Ghaziabad. Mr Ahluwalia said the company would invest Rs 35 crore for the new RMC plants, and this would be met from internal accruals. "AHLCON RMC is fully equipped to manufacture all grades of standard concrete such as M15, M20, M35 and M40 amongst others, and has the technology to manufacture and supply high performance concrete, fibre reinforced concrete, special concrete for underwater concreting, self compacting concrete and coloured concrete ," he said. The new RMC business is expected to contribute about Rs 25 crore in the first year, and as much as Rs 100 crore per annum from second year onwards, once the new plants are operational, he added. For its own construction requirements, the company has 18 plants at various sites. It has three plants in Kolkata, two in Jaipur, about seven in Delhi, two in Mumbai and one in Baroda amongst others. Ahluwalia Contracts is a public limited company trading on the stock exchanges in Kolkata, Jaipur and Ahmedabad. The company has already moved papers for listing on BSE, he said.
