Bajaj Auto sales 15 pc higher

MUMBAI: Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL) on Friday reported a 15 per cent growth in total two-wheeler and three-wheeler sales for September, from the previous 1,42,023 units to 1,63,942 units.

Motorcycle sales for the period rose by 32 per cent from to 1,26,420 units (95,680 units for September 2003). Sale of two-wheelers increased by 16 per cent to 1,40,760 units (1,21,072 units), while that of three-wheelers moved up 11 per cent to 23,182 units (20,951 units).

Exports for the month stood at 17,138 units (12,495 units), a gain of 37 per cent.

For the April-September period, BAL's total two-wheeler and three-wheeler sales grew by 12 per cent to 8,18,418 units (7,28,218 units). Sale of two-wheelers was up 12 per cent to 6,99,659 units (6,22,989 units) including a 25 per cent increase in motorcycle sales to 6,12,211 units (4,90,663 units).

Three-wheeler sales for the period gained by 13 per cent to 1,18,759 units (1,05,229 units).

Exports registered a 38 per cent increase to 96,013 units (69,605 units).
