GLOBAL acceptance of `Bollywood' films has lent its weight to the Hong Kong Tourism Board's (HKTB) efforts to step up its campaign for attracting Indian visitors and promote the country as a versatile location for Bollywood filming.
Hong Kong and Mumbai have lot in common as cities such as fascinating histories and international reputation as film production centres. "This movie-making linkage provides a real business opportunity in terms of tourism growth and development", according to HKTB.
"Our surveys have shown that 14 per cent of the visitors were interested in Hong Kong movie scenes and our promotions built around the country's movies have already proved successful in other Asian markets," said Ms Clara Chong, Executive Director, HKTB, in a statement here on Friday.
Hong Kong recorded a 24.7 per cent growth in visitors from India in August this year with 1.97 lakh tourists travelling to that country as against 15,954 during August last year.
