R.Y. Narayanan

Coimbatore , Oct. 1

The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) is opening more than 110 retail outlets across the country that would dish out a host of customer-friendly services under the brand name `Swagat'.

The PSU oil major is spending about Rs 50-75 lakh in developing each of them and the first `Swagat' outlet in the country is being launched at Chengapalli in Erode district, tamil Nadu on Saturday. The outets are being located on the basis of their business potential and are being promoted as part of `IndianOil Flagship Highway Retail Outlets'.

The corporation's aim is to make these fuel stations a place to relax and refresh for travellers, tourists and drivers and it would be particularly a boon to truck drivers who take long trips. Towards this end, IOC has sought to provide the essential facilities, including individual rooms for men and women, vegetarian and non-vegetarian restaurants, departmental stores and dry cleaning facility.

Consulting physicians, medical shops, ambulance services, communication centres with STD, ISD, internet and fax facilities would also be available, apart from conveniences such as conference hall and children's park.
