Diamond Cables bags order for London-Paris tunnel link

Ahmedabad , Oct. 2

THE Baroda-based Diamond Cables Ltd has bagged an order from Eurostar, which is constructing the London-Paris tunnel rail link, for supply of low-voltage cables.

"We have bagged a $3-million (Rs 14 crore) contract from Eurostar. We hope that this is only the beginning and Eurostar will place orders with us for their subsequent projects. It has also opened up the lucrative European market for us and we hope to get orders from other players as well," according to Diamond Cables Joint Managing Director, Mr Amit Bhatnagar.

While Eurostar has not specified the end-use for the cables, they are normally used for powering the signalling systems of railways, Mr Bhatnagar said.

Diamond Cables claims to be Asia's largest manufacturer of all-aluminium alloy conductors with an installed capacity of 48,000 tonnes per annum for different types of power transmission cables.
