Airlines Marketing - Promotions & Offers BA `combo-fares' offer flexibility and saving Ashwini Phadnis
New Delhi , Oct. 2 IN a move, which is likely to provide greater flexibility to international passengers in drawing up their travel plans, British Airways (BA) has introduced "combination fares" from India to various global destinations. The scheme is available for passengers travelling either in business or economy class from all four cities, including Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai, to which the airline has regular flights. Official sources told Business Line that the scheme would be on offer for sale and ticketing till December 15 this year. Passengers availing themselves of the scheme will have to complete at least their out- bound international travel by December 15 this year. In layman's terms, the new scheme offers the passenger the flexibility of being able to purchase a ticket at the lowest possible fare for the entire journey, something that may not have been possible earlier. Typically, the introduction of the scheme would allow a travel agent to book a passenger flying on the Delhi-London-Toronto and return sector on a "combination fare" ticket at the lowest possible level, which the airline did not permit earlier. Sources indicated that the introduction of "combination fares" would see passengers getting more value for money and being able to have substantial savings compared to the regular fares earlier. The scheme is on offer to mainline destinations in the UK, Rome, Geneva and Zurich, among other cities in Europe. The offer is also available for New York and Los Angeles. In addition, several cities in Canada, including Toronto and Montreal, are also covered under the scheme.
