Global commodity market workshop in Mumbai

AN international workshop on commodity trading organised by the Bombay Stock Exchange Training Institute is slated to begin here on Monday.

The intensive and interactive programme will focus on important issues including drivers of global and Indian commodity markets, commodity futures trading, regulatory regime, commodity exchanges, issues of banking and finance as also market promotion.

Expert presentations will include hedging in international exchanges for Indian corporates, structured financing, warehouse receipts system, commodity mutual funds, risk management and best hedging practices for corporates as well as equity and commodity market synergy.

In addition to fundamental and technical analysis of two volatile markets - bullion and vegetable oil - there will be live trading demonstration.

Field visit to two commodity exchanges for participants has also been organised, a BSE Training Institute official said.

Participants are drawn from large Indian and transnational companies engaged in commodity business, brokerage houses and financial institutions.

Last two years have witnessed a tremendous resurgence of economic interest in commodity markets.
