Grasim cement Sept despatches up 12 pc

GRASIM Industries has reported a year-on-year increase of 12.63 per cent in cement despatches for the month of September 2004, while its new group company UltraTech Cement has reported a 4.33 per cent decline in despatches for the same month.

At Grasim, despatches for the month stood at 11.62 lakh tonnes; while at UltraTech, despatches amounted to 12.45 lt.

Cement production at Grasim rose 6.35 per cent during the month to 11.03 lt, while production at UltraTech declined 4.44 per cent to 8.93 lt.

For the six-month period between April and September, production at Grasim moved up 4.61 per cent to 64.29 lt, the year-ago corresponding figure being 61.46 lt. Despatches during the half-year grew 5.14 per cent, year-on-year, to 65.78 lt (62.57 lt).

The half-yearly production growth figure for UltraTech was 4.16 per cent, with production at 59 lt (56.65 lt), while the despatches growth figure was 6.14 per cent, with shipping amounting to 73.91 lt, up from 69.64 lt during the first six-month period of the previous year.
