Telecommunications BSNL(Ker) launches pre-paid coupon Our Bureau
Releasing the new pre-paid recharge coupon at a customer meet in the city on October 1, Mr S.A. Thomas, Chief General Manager, Kerala Telecom Circle, BSNL said the company will soon introduce MMS (multimedia messaging services) for its mobile phone customers in Kerala. The company is also in the process of upgrading its mobile phone system in the State to a general packet radio service (GPRS) network, he added. The company, which currently has over 5.6 lakh mobile phone customers in the State, will increase the capacity of its cellular network by adding 9.5 lakh lines in the next few months, he said. The company is also in the process setting up 1,200 new transmission towers for improving the coverage of its mobile phone network, he added. BSNL is also implementing an optical fibre cable (OFC) network in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode, said Mr Thomas.
