KTDC draws up infrastructure expansion plan

Our Bureau

Kochi , Oct. 4

THE Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) has drawn up a 10-year plan for upgrading and expanding infrastructure and setting up properties in new destinations, Mr M.N. Gunavardhanan, Managing Director of KTDC, has said.

To begin with, the Corporation will set up a tourist complex at Thanneermukkam near Vembanad Lake. Kulanada and Erumely are the other centres where new infrastructure will be set up soon.

He pointed out that KTDC has a precedent of developing new destinations in the past like in Kumarakom in association with the Taj group. The KTDC will identify many more virgin destinations that had so far not been identified by other hotel groups.

It is also looking at pilgrimage tourism as another option to be explored. New properties at Kulanada, Erumely and Mookambika will be set up to cater to pilgrimage tourism.
