Asset Management Companies Kelkar joins IDFC AMC as non-exec Chairman Our Bureau
New Delhi , Oct. 4 DR Vijay Kelkar, former Advisor to the Union Finance Minister, has joined the board of IDFC Asset Management Co Ltd as its non-executive Chairman. IDFC AMC is the investment manager of the India Development Fund, the country's largest infrastructure-focused private equity fund. On his appointment, Dr Kelkar, who relinquished charge of his North Block assignment last month, said: "I look forward to working with the team at the India Development Fund to invest in world-class infrastructure companies in India. There is a crying need for better infrastructure in the country and the Fund is playing a key niche role in this area." Welcoming Dr Kelkar on the board of the AMC, the IDFC Chairman, Mr Deepak Parekh, said, "The Fund will continue to grow with the strategic inputs and assistance of Dr Kelkar, who brings a wealth of experience at the highest strategic and policy level in India. He has played a key role in the opening up of the economy and has an impeccable reputation."
