Rubber declines as market loses steam

SPOT rubber prices surrendered gains on Wednesday. Trading volumes were insufficient to keep the prices firm and RSS 4 declined to Rs 52.50 from Rs 53.00 a kg on Tuesday.

While the major grades recorded losses, ISNR 20 closed static on moderate demand and short supply.

The futures market showed a weak trend on Wednesday. The October delivery was quoted at Rs 53.90 (54.04), November delivery at Rs 53.81 (53.96), December delivery at Rs 53.98 (53.97) and January delivery at Rs 54.95 (54.97) per kg for RSS 4.

The Wednesday spot market rates per kg were as follows: RSS 4 52.50 (53), RSS 5 51 (51.25), ungraded 49.25 (50), ISNR 20 51 (51), latex 60 per cent 39.50 (40).
